After leading by two at the break (29-27), WA scored only 21 points in the 2nd half, losing to LS 57-50. Fred Kell was the only Westford player with double figures, scoring 11 points while adding 5 Assists. Sean Goodrich and Trent Western added 9 points. The 26th Annual "Evening of Basketball" will be held at Westford Academy on Friday, March 5, 2004. A Free-Throw and 3 Point Contest will be held in the afternoon followed by several 20 minute games: Middle School Travel vs. Boy's Freshmen, Boy's Rec. All-Stars vs. Boy's JV's, Girl's Rec. Tent Western led all scorers with 19 points, while Tom McArdle added 15. WA must win 4 of its last 5 to qualify for the state Tournament.
Games this week include: Tuesday-@CC, Wednesday-@Wayland (make-up), and Friday-Acton (Home). A busy week of hoops!
DCL ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED
Westford Academy will be represented with two players in the DCL All-Star game this Sat. night (2.14.04) at CC High School (7:30pm). Senior Co-Captain Fred Kell was selected as a first team all-star while Senior Co-Captain Trent Western was named to the 2nd team. Congrats to both!Wayland Beats WA at the Buzzer
Wayland outscored the Ghosts 42-18 in the 2nd half (after being down 29-17 at the break) to notch the win. The winning basket was with :04 seconds left on an inbounds play.Trent Western (17), Fred Kell (14), and Sean Goodrich(14) led the Ghosts offensive attack. Westford was 6 for 16 from the Free Throw line while Wayland went 18 for 25. It was Wayland's first vicory over Westford in the last seven years (14 games).
Senior Night Success!
WA 64 Wayland 45Senior Co-Captain Fred Kell led all scorers with 21 points (7 Rebounds)while Senior Co-Captain Trent Western added 18 points (10 Rebounds) to cap off a WA victory on Senior Night. All 4 seniors (Mark Juriewicz, Steve Burndrett, Fred Kell, and Trent Western) played well in their last game at WA. The win brings WA to 7-8 (DCL) and 8-11 (Overall).

Bedford 51 WA 42Westford was cold from the floor throughout the game (31%), and let a slim Bedford half-time lead (26-22) increase as the game concluded. Fred Kell led WA scorers with 14 points while Sean Goodrich added 10 points. WA finishes out of the running with an 8-12 overall record. Congrats to the Seniors for all their hard work and dedication!
