The annual holiday alumni game will take place on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 from 10:30am to noon in the WA Main Gym.Come in for a good workout or just to say "hi". Hope to see as many of you as possible!OPENING NIGHT AT WA
It took a long time, but we will open tomorrow afternoon against a solid Boston Latin team. The freshmen and JV will be playing at 4:00 (in the Aux and Main gym respectively) and the Varsity game will begin at 5:30pm in the Main gym. Come and support WA teams that can't wait to play!WA WINS OPENER
WA (1-0) defeated large school division opponent Boston Latin(2-1) 59-56 in its season opener. Senior Peter Lynch led all scorers with 22 points while Senior Alex Haines controlled the boards with 12 rebounds and 6 blocks. Junior TJ Jann added 10 points while freshmen Matt Ellis added 12 points and 5 assists.First Round Lowell Tournament
WA defeated Chelmsford 69-42 in first round tournament action. Senior Captain Peter Lynch led all scorers with 26 points while Senior Captain "The Chairman" Alex Haines added 11 points and 19 rebounds. Matt Ellis had 3-3's while TJ Jann added 8 2nd half points. WA faces Lowell in a semi-final match-up at 5:00pm at UMass Lowell Costello Gym.WA Over Lowell
WA defeated Lowell, 53-46, to advance to the finals of the Greater Lowell Holiday Tournament. WA was led by Peter Lynch (14), TJ Jann (13), and Alex Haines (10). WA held back a strong late Lowell rally for the win. It will be a Dual County League final as Acton (4-0) will meet WA (3-0) on Tuesday night (December 30, 2008) at 7:30pm.Lowell Holiday Tournament
The headline in the Lowell Sun said it all, "Instant Classic".
WA (4-0) came from behind to defeat a very talented Acton-Boxboro team (4-1) 95-94 in overtime. It was the Ghosts first Lowell tournament championship since 1999.
Senior Captain Peter Lynch led Westford scorers with 30 points while Senior Captain Alex Haines finished with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Junior TJ Jann had 13 2nd half points while Sophmore Mark Cornelius also added 13 points.
The Ghosts go back to league play against Arlington on January 6, 2009.
