Annual Free-Throw Fundraiser
Our annual Free Throw Fundraiser (freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity) takes place this Saturday, February 7, 2009 at WA from 1:00-3:00pm in the main gym. Each player gets pledges and will shoot 100 Free Throws. In the past we've had alumni who either wanted to participate or pledge support to someone on the team. WA (7-0 DCL Large, 15-1 Overall) defeated Boston Latin on Tuesday to secure at least a shared DCL Championship. The Ghosts need to win one more DCL game out of their next three to claim sole possession of this year's banner.Peter Lynch and TJ Jann led the offense with 22 points each, while Matt Ellis added 13. Alex Haines had another strong night with 14 rebounds, and Tom Courtney, Andrew Chandler (8 assists), Geoff Boutin and Mark Cornelieus all contributed in the big road win over the Wolfpack.
WA will host DCL rivals Acton-Boxboro on Friday night (JV 5:30, V 7:00). The game will be broadcast on WCAP (980AM) and on the web at www.980wcap.com.

WA (8-0 DCL Large, 16-1 Overall) defeated AB, 81-63, to clinch its 1st DCL Championship in 10 years. WA had solid play from TJ Jann (20 points and 8 Rebounds), Alex Haines (16 points and 11 rebounds), Peter Lynch (13 points and 12 rebounds), and Matt Ellis with 13 points. WA defeated Chelmsford 70-58. Matt Ellis and Peter Lynch had 18 points while TJ Jann added 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Alex Haines had 10 points with his 8 rebounds. WA is now 8-0 in the DCL Large and 17-1 overall.LYNCH DCL MVP, HAINES AND JANN ALL-STARS
Senior Captain Peter Lynch was named the MVP of the DCL Large Division. Senior Captain Alex Haines and Junior TJ Jann were also named DCL All-Stars and all three will participate in the DCL All-Star game that will take place on Saturday, February 14, 7:30,pm, at AB High school.WA OVER NS
TJ Jann hit a jumper with 3.1 seconds left, lifting WA to a 73-71 road win against Newton South. Jann had 28 points with 14 rebounds, while Alex Haines had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Peter Lynch finished with 13 points and 10 boards while Andrew Chandler (9 points) sparked the Ghosts. WA defeated Waltham 61-51 to finish the regular season (10-0 DCL, 19-1 overall) on Senior Recognition Night. Alex Haines became the top rebounder in school history with 758 rebounds (and still counting) while Peter Lynch led all scorers with 22 points.
